The Cue Collector - Burroughes & Watts' Billiards and Snooker Teasers Explained
Billiards and Snooker Teasers Explained, 9th Edition, 1951-1952

This is the ninth edition of the Burroughes & Watts' Billiards and Snooker Teasers Explained. It was published in September 1951, with a circulation of around 282,000 copies.  It covers the period 1951-1952.

The "named" cues offered for sale comprise: the Mascot; the Sidney Smith; the Burwat Champion; the Eureka; the Mannock; and Ye Olde Ash.  This edition gives a short spiel about each of these cues.   In relation to Ye Olde Ash, the booklet claims that it is made from 50 year old ash.

The Second World War continues to have an effect on supplies, with the booklet warning that prompt deliveries cannot be guaranteed.

The picture of the Burroughes & Watts cuemaker is interesting.  It demonstrates the correct way to tell whether the shaft of a cue is straight - by looking along its shaft from the butt end to the tip and rotating the cue slowly around in your fingers.  There is no point in rolling a tapered cue along a table.
