This is a Joe Davis Champion Cue. It has an ash shaft hand-spliced into an ebony butt. The front splice is birds eye maple.
This cue commemorates Joe Davis's snooker world record break of 114, made in March 1933. It also refers to his billiards world record of 2,501, made in May 1927.
Joe Davis did not exceed the 114 break until February 1948, when he made a break of 140.
The cue was manufactured by Peradon & Co, probably in the period from 1933 to 1948.
